I spent several weekends taking the time to apply a clear wood sealer before having a contractor put it together as part of a larger backyard project.
The gazebo arrived in 3 very large and heavy boxes that was very well packaged and all the components were well protected. I inspected all the pieces for defects and checked that the hardware was all complete. The color of the wood was really great. I think it could have been sanded smoother at the factory, but since it’s an outdoor piece, it will look just fine. I’d advise reading the instructions several times to get a really good overview of the steps. I liked the fact that there was a meter plate to sandwich between the 2 layers of the long beam. My contractor took a few days to construct the gazebo over a built in BBQ island and made a few mistakes along the way since they didn’t pay attention. But, if you follow the instructions and don’t skip steps, then you should be fine. The roof pieces are very heavy and you will need several helpers to hold the pieces so they can be joined and attached correctly to the post and beam elements of the gazebo. It looks so sharp! My one gripe is that each post has a bracket and then 4 fascia pieces, but the fascia pieces do not hide or cover the bolts that will be used to secure the bracket to whatever surface the gazebo is attached. Seems like a pretty big oversight and I just don’t understand why it’s designed that way. But, other than that I really like the gazebo and it is worth every penny!
